International Chemical Industrial Park , with a total planned area of 20 square kilometers, is situated in the eastern suburb of Zhenjiang city, 14 kilometers away from the downtown area. In accordance with the Tenth Five-year Economic Development Plan of Zhenjiang Municipal Government, this new specialized chemical production base is built to keep up with the development trend of chemical industry both at home and abroad and to meet the requirements that the process of chemical production should be serialized to make it complete. Its function is to have fine chemical industry as its lead and modern chemical industry as its mainstay and to concentrate on developing petrochemical products, chemical products for papermaking, new building materials as well as chemical product storage and transit.

This park is superior in geographical location, where the Changjiang River crosses the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, and waterways, roads and railways intersect each other into a stereo transportation network, thus possessing strong market radiation capacity and taken as an ideal place for various chemical projects.

There is a 25,000 tonnage chemical jetty in the park, with an annual handling capacity of 1.5 million tons of liquid chemical products. Now there are 25 carbon steel storage tanks exclusively used for chemical products, with a total storage capacity of 87,000 cubic meters, and 3 spherical storage tanks with a storage capacity of 2,000 cubic meters each. At present, a plan is being made for a new storage area with a total storage capacity of 90,000 cubic meters. All the storage tanks are available within 300 meters from the jetties. A number of enterprises in Zhenjiang New Area have had their own jetties and storage tanks for special purposes, thus possessing the qualification and ability to transport, store and supply such chemical products as butadiene.

At present, a number of chemical enterprises have settled in the park, such as UPC from Taiwan, with a total investment of USD100 million, NANTEX from Taiwan, with a total investment of USD21 million, UNID from South Korea, with a total investment of USD22 million and PTA, with a total investment of USD300 million.
